Chicago Sky stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith came up with a hilarious analogy for the ‘desperate’ male species following their win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

WNBA stars Angel Reese and Hailey Van Lith shared a humorous moment, calling out the ‘desperate’ male species after their big win with the Chicago Sky over the Connecticut Sun in Sunday’s 78-66 Commissioner’s Cup triumph.

Reese notched her first WNBA triple-double during the tough showdown, which escalated to hair-pulling shenanigans, double technicals, and a gritty comeback from Chicago in the latter half.

Van Lith meanwhile smashed her own record, nabbing a career-topping 16 points alongside five rebounds in what’s arguably her best game this year.

During the victory presser, Reese grabbed the spotlight and revealed how head coach Tyler Marsh rallied the team before kickoff. With three consecutive losses and a 2-7 record, they needed a jolt of inspiration to change the season’s trajectory.

As per Reese, Marsh challenged them to channel the spirit of ’90s and early 2000s R&B. “In 90’s music, men were desperate. We were desperate tonight,” she explained, alluding to Marsh’s anecdote about chart-toppers like Tyrese, Carl Thomas, K-Ci and JoJo, and Boyz II Men dominating back in the day.

Van Lith chuckled and chimed in swiftly, affirming, “Men are desperate, you right.” Not skipping a beat, Reese elaborated, “They were outside the house with the boombox. I wasn’t alive yet, but you know, we were super desperate tonight. Two and seven. We needed this.”

WNBA enthusiasts were left pondering whether Van Lith’s cheeky dig at men also encompassed her beau, NBA player Jalen Suggs, especially since Suggs grabbed the spotlight that same day when his Orlando Magic team clinched a monumental trade with Memphis.

The shuffle resulted in Desmond Bane heading to Orlando as Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four unprotected first-round selections, and a pick swap headed in the opposite direction.

In his own remarks post-game, Marsh acclaimed both Van Lith and Reese for their impact on the game.

“I think we got a lot of energy from Hailey from an offensive and from Michaela (Onyenwere) from a defensive standpoint,” he recognized. “And then the energy from Angel all around catapulted us tonight.”
