On May 10, in Dawson County, Nebraska, it is believed that Jeremy Koch, aged 42, fatally stabbed his wife, Bailey, who was 41, along with their sons, Hudson, aged 18, and Asher, aged 16, before ultimately taking his own life. This tragic event took place on the day of Hudson’s high school graduation.

The four bodies, along with a knife, were discovered at the scene by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office. During the Cozad graduation ceremony, Superintendent Dan Endorf spoke about the loss, describing the moment as ‘bittersweet.’

Bailey’s parents expressed their sorrow and frustration regarding the mental health care system in the United States. Koch has reportedly battled mental illness since 2009, which included several suicide attempts. Bailey had openly chronicled their experience, aiming to diminish stigma and enhance awareness.

She disclosed that Koch’s condition deteriorated in 2024 and recounted a frightening episode in March when he loomed over her with a knife. The Nebraska State Patrol is still looking into the matter. Autopsies have been mandated.
