Vice President JD Vance unleashed on the mainstream media for pushing “fake BS” narratives aimed at smearing President Donald Trump and members of his administration.
During a cabinet meeting led by President Trump at the White House, the vice president praised the administration’s accomplishments in Trump’s first 100 days as president and torched the media present in the room.
“Why is it that the press so focused on the fake BS rather than what’s really going on in the country. It think that what we’ve shown sir is that you can do a lot in 100 days, but you’ve also unfortunately revealed that too much of the American media hasn’t learned the lesson of the past four years,” Vance said.
Vance, who was sitting directly across the table from Trump, also joked about his age, which drew laughter in the room.
“At the risk of insulting everybody else at the table, I believe that I am the youngest member sitting at the table,” Vance noted, noting that wealth and prosperity in the United States had fallen precipitously in the last 40 years.
“We went from the world’s manufacturing superpower to one in which we depend on the People’s Republic of China to make the things that we need. What has happened in 100 days is that we’ve started to reverse every single one of these negative trends,” Vance said.
Vance added that previous presidents were typically “placeholders,” referring to former President Joe Biden’s use of an “autopen” in office, as opposed to Trump, who he said was a “man of action.”
Vance, a Marine veteran, also praised the news that Americans have been “coming down the doors to join our military” since Trump’s election.
“That’s a story you guys should cover, but compared to that how many times have you instead focused on the fact that we deported an MS-13 gang member?” Vance asked.
Trump permitted the media to attend the cabinet meeting at the White House for two hours, during which each government official spoke on their achievements in the first 100 days of his term.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat to Trump’s right and said that he had discovered a “dossier” compiled by his department under President Biden to monitor “disinformation” from one of the people at the table.
“Was it me or Elon?” Vance joked as members of the Cabinet laughed.
WATCH:
President Trump’s approval rating has risen to near-record levels, despite several days of outrage from Democrats, establishment Republicans, and mainstream media outlets over the president’s ambitious trade changes.
According to a new poll conducted by J.L. Partners in collaboration with the Daily Mail, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters from March 31 to April 3, Trump’s support rating increased even after sweeping tariffs were imposed on dozens of trading partners on April 2.
The study indicated that Trump’s approval rating increased to 53 percent, a four-point improvement from last week’s poll, when it was 49 percent. The Daily Mail termed the outcome as “surprising” considering the intense pressure and stock market crash that occurred on Thursday and Friday.
Breaking down the numbers further, Trump’s favorability rating among voters aged 18 to 29 has improved by an amazing 13 points since March 7. The study implies Trump is building on the tremendous support he earned from the group in the November presidential election, when voters aged 18 to 29 switched 10 points in Trump’s favor after heavily supporting Joe Biden in 2020.
The president’s support rating increased by six percentage points among registered Democrats and independents, according to the study. The president’s favorability among black voters has increased by 17 points since last week’s survey.
