Two individuals were shot in Portland, Oregon, by Border Patrol agents on Thursday, as the Department of Homeland Security stated that the individuals are suspected members of the Tren de Aragua gang who attempted to drive their vehicle into the agents.
“At 2:19 PST, US Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon,” DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin told The Post Millennial.
“The passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The vehicle driver is believed to be a member of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.”
“Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene. This situation is evolving, and more information is forthcoming,” she noted further.
The Portland Police Department added in a statement, “Officers confirmed that federal agents had been involved in a shooting. Portland Police were not involved in the incident.”
Initial reports suggested that the two individuals shot by ICE were a husband and wife who had attempted to run over federal agents with their car in the city. Following the incident, both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Portland Police Chief Bob Day said in a statement, “We are still in the early stages of this incident. We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.”
FBI Portland initially posted a statement that was later deleted for some reason, the PM reported: “FBI Portland is investigating an agent involved shooting that happened approximately 2:15pm near the 10000 block of Main St. in Portland involving Customs and Border Patrol Agents in which 2 individuals were wounded.”

The Border Patrol shootings followed one a day earlier in Minneapolis, where an ICE agent fired at a vehicle that rammed him, killing the occupant who was later identified as Renee Good, 37.
Subsequent reports noted that Good had been following and agitating ICE agents throughout the day.
Before the shooting, she had been blocking a street where ICE agents were operating for several minutes before they exited their vehicle and ordered her out of hers.
Rather than comply, however, she appeared to gun the motor of her SUV, striking one agent who opened fire to defend himself, DHS said.

Vice President JD Vance, during a briefing Thursday, lashed out at media outlets who have grossly misrepresented the incident as somehow being the fault of the ICE agent.
“This was an attack on federal law enforcement. This was an attack on law and order. This was an attack on the American people. The way that the media by and large has reported this story has been an absolute disgrace, and it puts our law enforcement officers at risk every single day,” Vance said in the briefing.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good had been stalking and impeding federal agents earlier in the day. Speaking at a news conference, Noem said ICE officers repeatedly ordered the woman, identified as Renee Nicole Good, 37, to exit her vehicle and stop obstructing law enforcement.
She refused to comply, Noem said, adding that the Department of Homeland Security is treating the incident as an act of domestic terrorism.
Noem said Good tried to “weaponize her vehicle” and “attempted to run a law enforcement officer over.”
