The 42-year-old mother of two noted that her show, My View with Lara Trump, set debut records for the conservative network when it premiered last month, much to the astonishment of the 47th president.
“He mentioned that the only way I would attract a large audience is by having him as a guest, so I don’t want to claim that I’ve proven him wrong,” she stated in an interview with USA Today. “When he does appear, I suppose the audience will grow even larger.”
Following the show’s launch, Lara’s father-in-law reached out to her multiple times to express his admiration for her performance, although she regrettably missed his calls.
“He has called me twice since the show aired to tell me how impressed he was with my work and how much he enjoyed it, but unfortunately, I missed both calls,” she explained to USA Today.
Lara mentioned that she was on a plane during both instances. Regarding the timing of the current president’s appearance on her show, she anticipates it will not happen until after his first 100 days in office, primarily because she wishes to establish herself in her new role.
Lara Trump’s show, My View with Lara Trump, achieved record-breaking viewership for the conservative network upon its debut last month, surprising the 47th president.
“We don’t have anything officially scheduled,” she added, noting that she has already welcomed other members of Trump’s circle on her show, including 27-year-old Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and others. She aspires to feature her entire family on the program, believing that their interactions are quite remarkable.
“We all have a great rapport. The past eight years have truly brought us closer together,” she shared with USA Today.
Nonetheless, the host intends to extend invitations beyond her father-in-law’s close associates, welcoming Democrats and individuals who are critical of the current administration as well.
“You are aware of my political stance, whom I supported in the election, and my desire for this country to thrive under my father-in-law’s presidency. However, I aim to provide deeper insights for those who regularly watch the show,” she explained to USA Today.
She hopes that her opinion-driven series will offer “an additional layer of transparency and more information, rather than less,” to the audience.
Among the Democrats she wishes to feature are Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman, known for his casual attire, and HBO talk show host Bill Maher. The premiere of her show attracted 2.4 million viewers, with 290,000 of them aged between 25 and 54.
Lara has also invited other figures from Trump’s circle, including 27-year-old Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard.
She emphasizes that her show will not be limited to her father-in-law’s inner circle, as she plans to include Democrats and critics of the current administration.
Lara is aware of the criticism regarding her show’s name, which bears resemblance to the predominantly liberal program The View on ABC. However, she maintains that the similarity in titles reflects the essence of her show.
“It represents my perspective and viewpoint,” she stated to USA Today.
Furthermore, she expressed no animosity towards the women of The View and mentioned that she would consider joining them as their conservative voice if given the opportunity.Lara explained that her decision to take on weekly hosting responsibilities instead of pursuing a Senate seat in Florida was driven by her concerns for her young children.
“My children need me. They desire my presence. This phase of life is fleeting,” she shared with USA Today.
“Considering this, when the opportunity at Fox arose, I felt compelled to accept it, as if it were a direction that God intended for me. There’s a reason why there are so few mothers of school-aged children serving as United States Senators.”
Currently, there are four female senators with school-aged children. She mentioned that her father-in-law is her “greatest supporter” and expressed her desire to feature him on her show.
“It’s not that they lack the ambition to serve. However, it is quite difficult to be away from your children unless you relocate them to D.C. for the duration required to fulfill the responsibilities of a United States Senator,” stated the wife of Eric Trump.
The debut of her show attracted 2.4 million viewers, with 290,000 of them aged between 25 and 54.
These figures mark the highest ratings for the Saturday 9:00 p.m. time slot since the live coverage of the attempted assassination of her father-in-law, President Donald Trump, in July 2024.
