Federal agents were rammed and boxed in by multiple vehicles near a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, Illinois, early Friday morning, forcing them to open fire after one of the attackers brandished a firearm, according to the Department of Homeland Security.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis morning, during routine patrolling in Broadview, in the same area of Chicago that law enforcement were assaulted yesterday, our brave law enforcement officers were rammed by vehicles and boxed in by 10 cars,\u201d DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin announced in a social media post.<\/p>\n

Agents trapped inside their vehicles were unable to move and forced to exit on foot. \u201cOne of the drivers who rammed the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement was forced to deploy their weapons and fire defensive shots at an armed U.S. citizen who drove herself to the hospital to get care for wounds,\u201d McLaughlin said.<\/p>\n

She confirmed the woman had previously been flagged by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as a security threat. \u201cThe armed woman was named in a @CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents and posting online, \u2018Hey to all my gang let\u2019s fk those mother f*ers up, don\u2019t let them take anyone.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

McLaughlin continued in her statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThankfully, no law enforcement officers were seriously injured in this attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cPritzker\u2019s Chicago Police Department is leaving the shooting scene and refuses to assist us in securing the area. There is a growing crowd and we are deploying special operations to control the scene. This is an evolving situation and we will give more information as soon as it becomes available,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
