Two individuals were shot in Portland, Oregon, by Border Patrol agents on Thursday, as the Department of Homeland Security stated that the individuals are suspected members of the Tren de Aragua gang who attempted to drive their vehicle into the agents.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt 2:19 PST, US Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon,\u201d DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin\u00a0told The Post Millennial<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The vehicle driver is believed to be a member of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene. This situation is evolving, and more information is forthcoming,\u201d she noted further.<\/p>\n

The Portland Police Department added in a statement, \u201cOfficers confirmed that federal agents had been involved in a shooting. Portland Police were not involved in the incident.\u201d<\/p>\n

Initial reports suggested that the two individuals shot by ICE were a husband and wife who had attempted to run over federal agents with their car in the city. Following the incident, both were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Portland Police Chief Bob Day said in a statement, \u201cWe are still in the early stages of this incident. We understand the heightened emotion and tension many are feeling in the wake of the shooting in Minneapolis, but I am asking the community to remain calm as we work to learn more.\u201d<\/p>\n

FBI Portland initially posted a statement that was later deleted for some reason, the PM reported: \u201cFBI Portland is investigating an agent involved shooting that happened approximately 2:15pm near the 10000 block of Main St. in Portland involving Customs and Border Patrol Agents in which 2 individuals were wounded.\u201d<\/p>\n
