It flopped.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe president brags about his Venezuela policy? Give us a break,\u201d Schumer continued. \u201cHe hasn\u2019t brought an end to the Maduro regime.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Maduro regime is more powerful today and more entrenched today than it was when the president began his anti-Maduro,\u201d he added. \u201cSame thing with North Korea, same thing with China, same thing with Russia. Same thing with Syria.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump invited Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaid\u00f3 to attend the 2020 State of the Union address, identifying him as Venezuela\u2019s \u201clegitimate\u201d leader after the opposition-controlled National Assembly declared Maduro\u2019s 2018 reelection illegitimate.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe United States is leading a 59-nation diplomatic coalition against the socialist dictator of Venezuela, Nicol\u00e1s Maduro,\u201d Trump said during the speech. \u201cMaduro is an illegitimate ruler, a tyrant who brutalizes his people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut Maduro\u2019s grip on tyranny will be smashed and broken,\u201d Trump added while than Caracas demonstrated the failure of Trump\u2019s foreign policy.<\/p>\n<p>Trump confirmed Saturday that U.S. forces carried out a successful military operation inside Venezuela that resulted in the capture of Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.<\/p>\n<p>The pair was transported to the United States and charged in New York with narco terrorism conspiracy, cocaine importation conspiracy, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro and other senior regime officials were originally indicted in 2020 under Trump\u2019s first administration for allegedly operating a large scale narco terrorism and drug trafficking operation.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro denied the charges at the time and remained in power, with prosecutors expanding the indictment in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Maduro and Flores made their first court appearance on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>News of the operation spread rapidly on Saturday, prompting backlash from Democratic lawmakers who objected to the administration carrying out the operation without notifying Congress.<\/p>\n<p>Schumer accused the administration of violating international law and risking an open-ended conflict.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div class=\"ai-delayed ai-delayed-12\" data-delay=\"4000\" data-block=\"12\" \u201cThis Week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey went inside Venezuela, bombed civilian as well as military places, and it\u2019s a violation of the law to do what they did without getting the authorization of Congress,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American people are worried that this is creating an endless war,\u201d Schumer said. \u201cThe very thing that Donald Trump campaigned against over and over again was no more endless wars.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fox News Digital contacted Schumer\u2019s office and the White House regarding his 2020 remarks, but did not immediately receive a response.<\/p>\n<p>White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly dismissed Schumer\u2019s criticism, accusing him of reversing his position for political reasons.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChuck Schumer\u2019s Trump
