Former Vice President Kamala Harris says she may once again seek the White House, telling the BBC that a 2028 presidential bid is \u201cpossible\u201d as she reflected on her loss to President Donald Trump last year.<\/p>\n

In her first UK interview, Harris said she remains confident that America will eventually elect a woman president \u2014 and that it could still be her, BBC\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am not done,\u201d Harris said in the interview with Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg. \u201cI have lived my entire career as a life of service, and it\u2019s in my bones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris\u2019s remarks mark her strongest indication yet that she\u2019s considering another run for president after Democrats suffered a crushing defeat in 2024.<\/p>\n

Asked directly if she could one day be president, Harris replied, \u201cPossibly.\u201d She added that her grandnieces would \u201cfor sure\u201d see a woman in the White House in their lifetime.<\/p>\n

Harris dismissed polls placing her as a longshot for the 2028 Democratic nomination \u2014 even trailing Hollywood actor Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson \u2014 saying she has never been guided by polling numbers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I listened to polls, I would not have run for my first office or my second office \u2014 and I certainly wouldn\u2019t be sitting here,\u201d Harris said.<\/p>\n

The interview comes as Democrats continue to debate what went wrong in 2024. Many have blamed former President Joe Biden for refusing to step aside sooner amid concerns about his age and mental sharpness. Others argue Harris herself failed to connect with voters on the economy \u2014 the top issue of the campaign.<\/p>\n

Harris, who has just released her new memoir, \u201c107 Days,\u201d about the final stretch of her campaign after Biden\u2019s withdrawal, declined to say whether she thought she would have won had Biden exited earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s unknowable,\u201d she said. \u201cThe great \u2018if\u2019 that could have changed the fate of America.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris also renewed her attacks on Trump, calling him a \u201ctyrant\u201d and claiming her warnings about his behavior have been proven correct.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe said he would weaponize the Department of Justice \u2014 and he has done exactly that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The former vice president pointed to the suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel by ABC after a joke about right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk\u2019s death, claiming it showed Trump\u2019s thin-skinned intolerance for criticism.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou look at what has happened in terms of how he has weaponized, for example, federal agencies going after political satirists,\u201d Harris said. \u201cHis skin is so thin he couldn\u2019t endure criticism from a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris also accused corporate and institutional leaders of \u201cbending the knee at the foot of a tyrant,\u201d saying many were motivated by self-interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are many who have capitulated since day one because they want to be next to power \u2014 maybe to have a merger approved or avoid an investigation,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The White House dismissed Harris\u2019s remarks, with spokeswoman Abigail Jackson telling reporters, \u201cWhen Kamala Harris lost the election in a landslide, she should\u2019ve taken the hint \u2014 the American people don\u2019t care about her absurd lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOr maybe she did take the hint,\u201d Jackson added, \u201cand that\u2019s why she\u2019s continuing to air her grievances to foreign publications.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the BBC interview, Harris acknowledged that the 2024 defeat had been \u201ctraumatizing\u201d for her campaign team but insisted that she is not finished with public service.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy God, my God, what will happen to our country?\u201d she repeated when Trump\u2019s victory became clear.<\/p>\n

While she emphasized she has not yet made a final decision, Harris\u2019s candor marked a shift from her earlier, more cautious remarks.<\/p>\n

Having been bruised by a narrow popular vote loss \u2014 but a decisive defeat in the Electoral College \u2014 Harris appears determined to keep her political future alive.<\/p>\n

Whether she can rebuild credibility within a divided Democratic Party remains uncertain.
