Randy Fine, a Republican from Florida, is reportedly considering forcing a House vote to expel Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota.\u00a0 Fine told Axios on Wednesday that he is actively weighing the move.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>He said the potential action would be based on allegations that Omar married her brother, along with what he described as her \u201cgeneral embrace of Muslim terror,\u201d Axios\u00a0reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t think she should be a citizen, let alone a member of Congress,\u201d Fine told the outlet.<\/p>\n<p>The comments followed a fundraising email from Omar\u2019s campaign calling for Fine to be expelled from Congress over past remarks in which he said Muslims should be \u201cdestroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI won\u2019t send out fundraising emails calling for her expulsion,\u201d Fine told Axios.\u00a0\u201cIf I\u2019m going to do that, you will see me bring the piece of paper. And I am actively considering that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Axios noted that expelling a member of the House requires a two-thirds vote.<\/p>\n<p>With Republicans holding only a narrow majority, at least 85 Democrats would need to support the effort for it to succeed.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>Omar has also faced renewed scrutiny in recent weeks related to fraud tied to the Somali community in her Minnesota district.<\/p>\n<p>The controversy centers on the Minnesota \u201cFeeding Our Future\u201d program, which authorities have linked to approximately $250 million in fraud connected to the MEALS Act passed during COVID lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Omar supported the legislation and has defended her role.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">Advertisement&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"as6078\" data-title=\"You Might Also Like\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cDo you regret pushing for that bill, the MEALS Act? Do you think it led to the fraud?\u201d Fox News reporter Nicholas Ballasy asked Omar earlier this month, according to\u00a0Fox News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbsolutely not, it did help feed kids,\u201d Omar replied.<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump has also sharply criticized Omar in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Trump referred to the congresswoman as \u201cgarbage\u201d and raised broader concerns about large scale migration from Third World nations such as Somalia, according to\u00a0NBC News.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want them in our country. I\u2019ll be honest with you, okay,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody will say, \u2018Oh, that\u2019s not politically correct.\u2019 I don\u2019t care,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t want them in our country. Their country is no good for a reason,\u201d Trump continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer friends are garbage,\u201d Trump said, referring to Omar. \u201cThese aren\u2019t people that work. These aren\u2019t people that say, \u2018Let\u2019s go, come on, let\u2019s make this place great.\u2019 These are people that do nothing but complain.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div data-delay=\"4000\" data-block=\"12\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Republican challenger John Nagel is accusing Rep. Omar of being closely linked to the $1 billion Feeding Our Future fraud scandal, which is based in her Minneapolis congressional district. Nagel, who is running against Omar in Minnesota\u2019s 5th Congressional District, claims that legislation introduced by Omar contributed to the circumstances that allowed the fraud to take place.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere did this actually start?\u201d Nagel said, Townhall\u00a0reported. \u201cShe passed legislation. Her legislation actually started it, and it allowed people to get into Feeding Our Future.\u201d Nagel pointed to the geographic concentration of the fraud.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you look at where the fraud is, it\u2019s primarily her district, the district that I\u2019m running in against her,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it\u2019s really odd to think that all the fraud just happened in a particular area.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Omar introduced the Maintaining Essential Access to Lunch for Students Act, known as the MEALS Act, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The bill allowed states to provide free meals to children during school closures through alternative methods such as grab-and-go distribution and eased eligibility requirements. Omar has denied any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation was passed by Congress with bipartisan support.<\/p>\n<p>Nagel further alleged that individuals connected to Omar\u2019s political circle financially benefited from the fraud scheme.
