Adam Schiff had authorized the leaking of classified information to damage then-President Donald Trump during the now-discredited Russiagate investigation, according to explosive FBI memos recently provided to Congress by Director Kash Patel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>FBI 302 interview reports obtained by Just the News reveal that the staffer \u2014 a registered Democrat who described himself as a friend to both Schiff, now a California senator, and former Republican House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes \u2014 viewed the leaks as \u201cunethical,\u201d \u201cillegal,\u201d and \u201ctreasonous.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The staffer claimed he was told not to worry because Schiff believed the Constitution\u2019s speech and debate clause would shield him from prosecution, Just the News first reported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There is no publicly available opinion from the Attorney General or Solicitor General supporting such a determination as a matter of law.<\/p>\n<p>However, officials told Just the News that when the allegations were first presented years ago, the Justice Department showed little interest in pursuing Schiff, echoing the same rationale the lawmaker himself had offered.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>In his most recent interview with the FBI in 2023, the whistleblower \u2014 whose name remains redacted \u2014 told agents from the bureau\u2019s St. Louis office that he had personally attended a meeting where Schiff authorized the release of classified information, the outlet said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen working in this capacity, [redacted staffer\u2019s name] was called to an all-staff meeting by SCHIFF,\u201d the interview report said. \u201cIn this meeting, SCHIFF stated the group would leak classified information which was derogatory to President of the United States DONALD J. TRUMP. SCHIFF stated the information would be used to indict President TRUMP.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<div id=\"as6078\" data-title=\"You Might Also Like\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The whistleblower told investigators that he \u201cstated this would be illegal and, upon hearing his concerns, unnamed members of the meeting reassured that they would not be caught leaking classified information,\u201d the 2023 interview report stated, according to Just the News.<\/p>\n<p>The staffer first made similar allegations to agents at the FBI\u2019s Washington field office in 2017, shortly after the start of Trump\u2019s first term. Gen. Mike Flynn \u2014 Trump\u2019s first national security adviser \u2014 was being singled out as part of a broader committee effort to target Trump.<\/p>\n<p>The whistleblower also identified Rep.
