Just minutes after an earth-shaking post on Truth Social announcing the U.S. operation to capture and exfiltrate Nicol\u00e1s Maduro and his wife, President Donald Trump praised the success of this covert operation. \u201cA lot of good planning and lot of great, great troops and great people,\u201d Trump told The New York Times in a 4:30 a.m. ET call that reportedly lasted less than a minute. \u201cIt was a brilliant operation, actually.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has scheduled a news conference at Mar-a-Lago at 11 a.m. to discuss the indictment of Maduro on narcoterrorism charges following the \u201clarge-scale strike\u201d that exfiltrated Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.<\/p>\n

Trump said in a televised interview that no U.S. service members were killed during a covert operation in which American forces surrounded Nicol\u00e1s Maduro at his compound. The president and commander-in-chief did say the operation resulted in only a small number of injuries, without providing further details.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was in a house that was more like a fortress than a house,\u201d Trump said an interview with Fox News. \u201cIt had steel doors, it had what they call a safety space where it\u2019s, you know, it\u2019s solid steel all around. He didn\u2019t get that space closed. He was trying to get into it, but he got bum rushed so fast that he didn\u2019t get into there.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were prepared. We had, you know, massive blow torches and everything else that you need to get through that steel, but we didn\u2019t need it. He didn\u2019t, he didn\u2019t make it to that area of the house,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n

Trump, who has frequently criticized Democrats and what he describes as \u201cleakers\u201d in Congress, told The Times that \u201cwe\u2019ll discuss\u201d what advance authorization, if any, he sought before the operation.<\/p>\n

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) was not briefed in advance of the operation, according to reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cHASC [House Armed Services Committee] was not briefed either,\u201d Sherman added. \u201cThis has been pretty standard for the Trump administration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump said in an early morning announcement on social media that American federal law enforcement agents, in conjunction with the U.S. military,\u00a0successfully captured Maduro<\/a>\u00a0in a stunning overnight operation that took place in the South American nation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow,\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.<\/p>\n

He added that there would be a press conference later today at his Mar-a-Lago estate.<\/p>\n
