President Donald Trump praised the U.S. economy on Thursday, questioning when he would receive credit from much of the media for creating \u201cperhaps the greatest economy\u201d in the nation\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

\u201cI inherited a MESS from the Biden Administration \u2014 The Worst Inflation in History, and the Highest Prices our Country has ever seen. In other words, Affordability, just 13 months ago, was a DISASTER for the American People, but now, it\u2019s totally different! Prices are coming down FAST, Energy, Oil and Gasoline, are hitting five year lows, and the Stock Market today just hit an All Time High. Tariffs are bringing in Hundreds of Billions of Dollars, and we are respected as a Nation again,\u201d Trump asserted in a Truth Social\u00a0post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At one point during Joe Biden\u2019s presidency \u2013 and when Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress \u2013 the inflation rate topped 9.1 percent before eventually falling to around 2.5 percent when Trump took office in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen will I get credit for having created, with No Inflation, perhaps the Greatest Economy in the History of our Country? When will people understand what is happening? When will Polls reflect the Greatness of America at this point in time, and how bad it was just one year ago?\u201d the president asked in the post.<\/p>\n

Trump conveyed a similar sentiment in\u00a0a previous Truth Social post<\/a>\u00a0earlier Thursday. \u201cSTOCK MARKET JUST HIT AN ALL-TIME HIGH!!! When will the Fake Polls show that I am doing a great job on the Economy, and much more??? Thank you!\u201d he declared in the post.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Politico\u2019s Dasha Burns, Trump indicated that he would rate the economy as \u201cA+++++.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Trump administration has released its long-anticipated \u201cgold card,\u201d a program that allows foreign nationals to obtain U.S. visas through direct payments to the federal government,\u00a0the New York Post reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Trump told reporters at the White House that the document would operate \u201csomewhat like a green card,\u201d providing qualified recipients with immediate eligibility for permanent residency and authorization to work in the United States.<\/p>\n

Under the new policy, individual applicants must pay $1 million to the U.S. Treasury, while companies seeking to retain foreign employees are required to pay $2 million. The Department of Homeland Security will conduct background checks on all applicants to determine eligibility for the program. After five years of residency, individuals who hold a gold card will be permitted to apply for U.S. citizenship, The Post reported.<\/p>\n

The new card system effectively replaces and streamlines the long-standing EB-5 visa program, which provided permanent legal status to foreign nationals who invested up to $1 million in U.S. businesses.<\/p>\n

As of February, an estimated 250,000 applicants remained in the backlog for EB-5 approvals.<\/p>\n

Congress created the EB-5 program in 1990, establishing tiered investment thresholds depending on geographic location. Investments in rural or high-unemployment areas could qualify at approximately $800,000, compared to the standard $1 million requirement. Applicants were also required to demonstrate that their investment would create at least 10 U.S. jobs.<\/p>\n

In the 25 years since the program\u2019s inception, only 135,518 EB-5 visas have been issued, according to data from the trade association Invest In the USA (IIUSA), The Post report stated.<\/p>\n

Trump has said he expects \u201chundreds of billions of dollars\u201d in revenue could be generated from the program, and administration officials have indicated that business leaders \u2014 including Apple CEO Tim Cook \u2014 have privately praised the gold card framework.<\/p>\n

The card was initially envisioned with a $5 million price point, according to administration officials, though the final cost was later revised. The White House has also promoted the program as a potential tool to help narrow the federal budget deficit by increasing revenue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
