Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Wash., one of only a handful of Republicans who voted to impeach President Donald Trump in 2021, announced on Wednesday that he will not run for re-election in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis decision comes with no reservations or remorse, only gratitude for the tremendous opportunity to have represented my home state in Congress,\u201d Newhouse wrote in a statement.<\/p>\n

He added that he looks \u201cforward to this new chapter and way I can continue to serve my community and this great nation,\u201d and thanked his family \u201cfor their steadfast love and support.\u201d<\/p>\n

Newhouse was first elected in 2014 and is one of two remaining House Republicans \u2014 along with Rep. David Valadao of California \u2014 who voted to impeach Trump in 2021 after blaming him for the Jan. 6 riot on the U.S. Capitol.<\/p>\n

Only three Republican senators \u2014 Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana \u2014 voted to convict Trump,\u00a0NBC News reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n
