The sources told Fox News that reports claiming Bongino\u2019s FBI office is empty are false.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>They said, however, that Bongino\u2019s departure remains a possibility, Fox News\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/deputy-fbi-director-dan-bongino-decide-about-future-bureau-coming-weeks-sources-say\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.\u00a0A source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital that Bongino has not made a final decision about his future.<\/p>\n<p>Bongino has faced mounting criticism in recent weeks alongside FBI Director Kash Patel.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, an alliance of active-duty and retired FBI personnel released a report describing the bureau as lacking direction under its new leadership.<\/p>\n<p>Bongino and Patel rejected the report and defended reforms they said have improved accountability and public safety.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhen the director and I moved forward with these reforms, we expected some noise from the small circle of disgruntled former agents still loyal to the old Comey Wray model,\u201d Bongino told Fox News at the time.<\/p>\n<p>He said the bureau\u2019s leadership is focused on results rather than internal opposition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur responsibility is to the American people,\u201d Bongino said, adding that the FBI has achieved tighter accountability, tougher performance standards, cost savings and a mission-first culture.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>New York Post columnist and Fox News contributor Miranda Devine said last week that an internal 115-page report from active-duty and retired agents and analysts sharply criticized Patel and Bongino.<\/p>\n<p>Bongino responded by accusing Devine of relying on what he described as gossip from former employees opposed to the bureau\u2019s reform efforts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMiranda prefers the old guard,\u201d Bongino wrote on X, saying the reforms will continue.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<div id=\"as6078\" data-title=\"You Might Also Like\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Weeks ago, it was reported that Bongino could soon leave his position following internal clashes with the Trump administration over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files, according to reporting by journalist Rachel Bade.<\/p>\n<p>Bade\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/rachaelbade.substack.com\/p\/scoop-inside-the-alleged-cabinet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>\u00a0that Bongino has run afoul of senior officials over his response to the Epstein materials, though it remains unclear whether he would be fired or leave voluntarily.<\/p>\n<p>According to Bade, Bongino\u2019s conduct left \u201csenior staff complaining that he put his personal reputation with MAGA World ahead of the team\u2019s best interests.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bongino reportedly had a \u201cfiery confrontation\u201d with Attorney General Pam Bondi over the release of a Department of Justice and FBI memo stating there was no Epstein client list and no evidence that Epstein was blackmailing prominent individuals.<\/p>\n<p>ABC News reported at the time that the memo contradicted long running speculation surrounding Epstein\u2019s activities and death.<\/p>\n<p>Axios reported this summer that Bongino was so upset by the dispute with Bondi that he failed to report to work, prompting speculation among colleagues that he may have quit.<\/p>\n<p>Bongino, a former Secret Service agent, rose to prominence as a conservative media figure and podcaster, where he frequently promoted the conspiracy theory that Epstein was murdered in federal custody.<\/p>\n<p>That claim was directly addressed and dismissed in the DOJ and FBI memo, which concluded that Epstein died by suicide while awaiting trial in a Manhattan jail in 2019 on federal sex trafficking charges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince then, it\u2019s been sour grapes where he\u2019s concerned in the West Wing,\u201d Bade wrote. \u201cThe expectation is that he\u2019ll leave eventually;
