Efforts to establish a presidential library for former President Joe Biden have faced challenges due to limited fundraising, according to a report by The New York Times. Financial disclosures filed with the Internal Revenue Service show that Biden\u2019s presidential library foundation projects it will raise approximately $11.3 million by the end of 2027.<\/p>\n

The amount falls well short of the funding typically required to build a presidential library and manage presidential records.<\/p>\n

The filings also indicate that the foundation did not receive new donations in 2024, Biden\u2019s final year in office. Instead, its funding came from approximately $4 million in leftover funds from Biden\u2019s 2021 presidential inauguration,\u00a0according to the report<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The foundation declined to disclose how much money it raised in 2025 but said that Biden has only recently begun actively fundraising for the project, according to the Times. Biden\u2019s aides also told the newspaper that the long-term fundraising goal for the presidential library is $200 million.<\/p>\n

Amid the slow pace of fundraising, discussions have taken place about potentially merging a future Biden presidential library with existing Biden-affiliated institutions at the University of Delaware, according to The New York Times, which cited four people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n

The report also said some Democratic donors have expressed reluctance about contributing to the project, even if asked directly by Biden. Those donors cited a preference to focus their resources on opposing President Donald Trump\u2019s agenda or lingering dissatisfaction with Biden\u2019s single term in office.<\/p>\n

John Morgan, a longtime Democratic donor, told the outlet that he would not contribute to the project, saying he felt mistreated by members of Biden\u2019s staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Biden staff, they ruined any type of good library for him,\u201d Morgan told the outlet. \u201cHe\u2019ll be lucky to have a bookmobile.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelly Scully, a spokeswoman for Biden, told the outlet \u201cwe continue to be in an exploratory and planning phase.\u201d Biden has already attended a fundraiser for the library but the figures were not released right away.<\/p>\n

Biden\u00a0struggled through his speech<\/a>\u00a0before the International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., at one point declaring that \u201cwe\u2019re the United States of Amerigotit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just have to get up. As long as we keep the faith \u2026 and remember who the hell we are. We\u2019re the United States of Amerigotit, that\u2019s who we are! We\u2019re the U.S.!\u201d Biden said. The former president told the assembled lawmakers and activists that it was time to \u201cfight back\u201d against the Trump administration, which he accused of violating the Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll of us are dismayed by the present state of the union,\u201d he added. \u201cThis is no time to give up. It\u2019s time to get up. Get up and fight back. Get up. Continue to fight. And what\u2019s the fight all about? \u2026 it\u2019s about protecting the Constitution. It\u2019s about protecting the Constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former president further accused President Donald Trump and his supporters of attempting to \u201cdistort and derail our fight for equality\u201d and \u201cfurther divide the country,\u201d according to a report from Fox News.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re trying to turn it into something scary, something sinister. But folks, it\u2019s really not about anything that\u2019s all that complicated. At its core, it\u2019s about making every American given the opportunity to be treated with basic decency, dignity, and respect they all deserve. That\u2019s what every single American deserves, every American,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The previous week Biden made headlines again when members of the Trump administration criticized the former president for failing to make any progress on the Jan. 6 pipe bombing case.<\/p>\n

FBI Director Kash Patel\u00a0criticized the bureau\u2019s lack of progress<\/a>\u00a0on the long-running investigation into the 2021 DNC and RNC pipe bomb case on Thursday, saying it reflected \u201csheer incompetence or complete intentional negligence\u201d by the FBI under the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
