The six lawmakers behind the \u201cillegal orders\u201d video are now getting calls from the FBI to schedule interviews \u2014 exactly what happens when you play fast and loose with rhetoric that targets the military chain of command. They\u2019ve tried to spin the video as nothing more than a harmless PSA reminding service members they can refuse \u201cillegal orders.\u201d But anyone who actually watched it knows that\u2019s nonsense. An order isn\u2019t \u201cillegal\u201d just because a Democrat doesn\u2019t like the president who issued it.<\/p>\n

The message many people took away \u2014 correctly \u2014 was that these lawmakers were trying to undermine the president\u2019s authority with the troops.<\/p>\n

Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) blew up their flimsy defense even further by admitting the video was motivated by her dislike of President Donald Trump. So much for the \u201cjust a neutral PSA\u201d storyline.<\/p>\n
