D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser will not seek reelection, concluding months of speculation about a potential fourth term. She provided an in-depth interview to News4 regarding her decision. Bowser stated that she made this decision for her family. In the interview, she said that now is the right time to pursue other opportunities while she still has plenty of energy, enthusiasm, and great ideas.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was time for me to pass the baton on to the next set of leaders who are going to take our city to the next level,\u201d the mayor\u00a0said in an interview with News4<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s probably the hardest thing I\u2019ve had to do \u2013 to walk away from a job I love. But I know we\u2019ve accomplished the things I\u2019ve set out to do,\u201d Bowser said.<\/p>\n

In a statement and video posted to social media on Tuesday, the mayor declared, \u201cIt has been the honor of my life to be your Mayor. Together, we have built a legacy of success of which I am intensely proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith a grateful heart, I am announcing that I will not seek a fourth term. For the next 12 months, let\u2019s run through the tape and keep winning for DC,\u201d her message concluded.<\/p>\n

Bowser told the outlet she\u2019s confident that if she wanted to run again, she\u2019d win. \u201cI\u2019ve never lost an election,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
