Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani, recently elected as New York City\u2019s new mayor, is already facing backlash over the video he released following his victory over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.<\/p>\n

Following his victory, Mamdani shared a video on X outlining his plans for the transition period, emphasizing that \u201ca lot of work lies ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

The newly elected New York City mayor thanked his supporters and explained that, while he had previously asked them to stop sending campaign donations, he was now encouraging contributions from \u201cworking class\u201d residents to help fund the transition.<\/p>\n

Mamdani said the funds would be used to hire policy experts, strengthen infrastructure, and support the early stages of his administration.<\/p>\n

Along with the video, Mamdani wrote, \u201cThe leaves are changing and so is City Hall. Leave a donation to help us build a city that works for all of us. Thank you, New York City. Together we made history. Now let\u2019s get to work.\u201d<\/p>\n
