But let\u2019s be honest: only a handful of First Ladies have had the kind of real political or cultural heft that justifies the breathless attention they receive. Hillary Clinton, for better or worse, was a major figure in her own right. Eleanor Roosevelt reshaped the role entirely. Even Nancy Reagan earned her influence, though much of her intrigue came from her existing ties to Hollywood\u2019s glitterati.<\/p>\n
Michelle Obama, by comparison, has never quite reached that level of substantive impact \u2014 yet she\u2019s treated like a cross between a pop icon and a political oracle. The hype has always outpaced the r\u00e9sum\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Michelle, though, continues to draw an outsized amount of attention despite being\u2014let\u2019s be honest\u2014remarkably unremarkable. She\u2019s often dour, perpetually aggrieved, nowhere near the glamorous icon her fans pretend she is (and no, the bizarre online rumors about her are nonsense), and she has perfected the art of public whining.<\/p>\n
Yet somehow, Michelle Obama keeps resurfacing as a supposed presidential savior for Democrats. Every time she speaks, she oscillates between being painfully dull and downright off-putting.<\/p>\n
