Sen. John Kennedy is a gem \u2014 no, a whole treasure chest of them. A bona fide national treasure. If this whole political career ever stops working out for him, he\u2019s got a guaranteed second act waiting in stand-up comedy.<\/p>\n
Kennedy of Louisiana had some classic Kennedy-style commentary about Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. As usual, he managed to sum up the Democratic Party\u2019s internal power struggle with that perfect mix of sharp insight and razor-edged humor during an appearance on Will Cain Country.<\/p>\n
Cain asked Kennedy about the growing civil war on the left \u2014 the split between the handful of Democrats who broke ranks to reopen the government and the furious resistance extremists who wanted the shutdown to drag on forever. Kennedy didn\u2019t disappoint.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s something about this government reopening that has completely divided the left,\u201d Cain noted.<\/p>\n
\u201cSenator Schumer gambled, and he lost, and he\u2019s kind of walking around now looking like a guy who just lost his luggage,\u201d Kennedy responded. \u201cHe did this to try to make the Bolshevik wing, which is in control of his party like him, love him, and now they\u2019re madder than ever at him.\u201d<\/p>\n
That Bolshevik wing \u2014 or the \u201csocialist wing,\u201d as Kennedy later calls it \u2014 is the faction led by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Kennedy points out that AOC is probably oblivious to just how much she and her party hurt ordinary Americans during the shutdown. Then again, you could fill entire libraries with the things the former bartender doesn\u2019t know.<\/p>\n
The senator also predicts that AOC has some very big ambitions. Maybe she\u2019ll try to take out fellow Democrat Hakeem Jeffries to snag the speakership if her party wins big in the midterms. Maybe she\u2019ll set her sights on Schumer\u2019s Senate seat. Or \u2014 God help the republic \u2014 maybe she\u2019s gearing up for a presidential run.<\/p>\n
Kennedy notes that old Chuck is downright terrified at the thought of New York\u2019s socialist darling sinking her claws into his Senate seat.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are a lot of Democrats, one of whom I think is Senator Schumer, who understand that, uh, the loon wing of his party are a bunch of loons. But, I think he\u2019s scared of them,\u201d Kennedy posited. \u201cI think his testicles are on back order from China.\u201d<\/p>\n
