President Donald Trump weighed in on the two Indiana Republicans who helped derail the state\u2019s redistricting push ahead of next year\u2019s midterms \u2014 and, unsurprisingly, he didn\u2019t mince words. Trump made clear he\u2019s not impressed with GOP lawmakers who obstruct efforts to strengthen Republican maps, especially at a time when Democrats are aggressively carving out advantages wherever they can \u2013 just like Democrats have done for decades.<\/p>\n
Indiana\u2019s Republican Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray announced earlier this week that the GOP-controlled chamber would not return in December to vote on redistricting \u2014 a move that immediately drew the ire of Trump.<\/p>\n
Bray, along with state Sen. Greg Goode (R), became the focus of Trump\u2019s criticism as he blasted their \u201cpolitically correct\u201d cowardice and accused them of folding at the mere thought of tackling a tough redistricting fight.<\/p>\n
\u201cVery disappointed in Indiana State Senate Republicans, led by RINO Senators Rod Bray and Greg Goode, for not wanting to redistrict their State, allowing the United States Congress to perhaps gain two more Republican seats,\u201d Trump wrote on his Truth Social media platform.<\/p>\n
He rightly notes that Democrats have played this game for decades \u2014 carving up maps to cement their political power without a hint of hesitation. But when it\u2019s the GOP\u2019s turn to push back and use the same tools to protect their voters, too many Republicans suddenly lose their nerve and retreat into the same old timid, self-defeating playbook.<\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of these two politically correct type \u2018gentlemen,\u2019 and a few others, they could be depriving Republicans of a Majority in the House,\u201d Trump said, adding, correctly, that in a highly contentious midterm race to control Congress amounts to \u201ca very big deal!\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump added: \u201cCalifornia is trying to pick up five seats, and no one is complaining about that,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s weak \u2018Republicans\u2019 that cause our Country such problems \u2014 It\u2019s why we have crazy Policies and Ideas that are so bad for America.\u201d<\/p>\n
