After nearly six years of running the once-Golden State straight into the ground \u2014 from skyrocketing crime and homelessness to crumbling infrastructure and fleeing businesses \u2014 Newsom still struts around like he\u2019s America\u2019s next savior. You can see it in every smirk and soundbite. The guy wants to be president so badly he\u2019s probably already been shopping for Oval Office curtains.<\/p>\n
Add to that the undeniable fact that President Donald Trump lives rent-free in Gavin Newsom\u2019s head 24\/7, and it\u2019s anyone\u2019s guess what the smug California governor will do next.<\/p>\n
In one of his most on-brand, self-congratulatory stunts yet, \u201cHair Gel\u201d himself took to the global stage at the 2025 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil to announce a brand-new \u201cclimate partnership\u201d \u2014 with Nigeria, of all places.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s the problem: Nigeria is currently one of the deadliest places on Earth for Christians. The systematic slaughter of believers there has reached horrifying levels. Between 2019 and 2023 alone, nearly 17,000 Nigerian Christians were killed in targeted attacks \u2014 more than any other country in the world.<\/p>\n
And yet, while that humanitarian nightmare rages on, Newsom is out there preening for cameras and cutting deals so he can look \u201cpresidential.\u201d It\u2019s not about moral leadership or human rights \u2014 it\u2019s about image. The California Democrat seems far more interested in polishing his global brand ahead of an expected 2028 White House run than in standing up for the victims of religious persecution.<\/p>\n
To make matters worse, this all comes just weeks after President Trump\u2019s administration reinstated Nigeria\u2019s designation as a Country of Particular Concern, reviving a policy Trump first implemented during his first term \u2014 and one that the Biden administration shamefully scrapped.<\/p>\n
In a post to X on Wednesday, Newsom \u2014 clearly trying to look \u201cpresidential\u201d \u2014 bragged about his new agreement while showering himself with praise. It was classic Gavin: all ego, all optics, and zero awareness of how tone-deaf the whole thing looked given what\u2019s actually happening:<\/p>\n
