New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was shredded by critics over a tone-deaf request following his landslide victory on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Mamdani shared a video on X outlining the transition process ahead, emphasizing that \u201ca lot of work\u201d remains to be done. Addressing supporters, New York City\u2019s new mayor noted his earlier request to pause campaign donations but now encouraged them to contribute funds for the transition.<\/p>\n

He explained that the money would now be needed to hire experts, build infrastructure, and support the extensive preparations required for his incoming administration. \u201cThank you, New York City. Together we made history. Now let\u2019s get to work,\u201d he said in the video.<\/p>\n

But Mamdani was slammed online after asking for money from the same hard-pressed working class New Yorkers he claimed to champion during his campaign.<\/p>\n

One person wrote, \u201cIt\u2019s been less than 24 hours since Mamdani won the election & he\u2019s already asking for money. Congratulations New York City, bravo.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another added, \u201cIslamist and Communist Mamdani promises \u2018free\u2019 stuff. Now he begs for donations?\u201d Yet another person commented, \u201cAlready begging for money. What a joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yet another X user shared a photo of Alex Soros, son of billionaire George Soros, whose left-wing non-profit network backed Mamdani\u2019s rise, along with the mayor-elect, writing: \u201cWhen you ask taxpayers for more money \u2014 make sure to ask your friends first.\u201d<\/p>\n
