Board of Medicine to open an investigation into O\u2019Connor\u2019s conduct. According to the committee, O\u2019Connor invoked his Fifth Amendment right when asked whether he had \u201cever been told to lie\u201d about President Biden\u2019s health or if he had ever believed the president was \u201cunfit to execute his duties.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Then there was the autopen scandal, which Chair of the Committee, Republican Rep. James Comer (KY-1), deemed \u201cone of the biggest political scandals in U.S. history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The report stated that not all of Biden\u2019s executive actions \u201ccan be deemed his own,\u201d citing concerns over documents signed using an autopen. It asserted that several of those actions \u2014 including certain presidential pardons \u2014 should be considered null and void, as they lacked any \u201capproval traceable\u201d to Biden\u2019s direct consent:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Asked directly whether he even knew who operated the autopen, former White House chief of staff Jeff Zients \u2014 who approved 11th-hour pardons for first family members on Jan. 19, 2025 \u2014 answered bluntly in an transcribed interview with the committee: \u201cI do not.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But you know who\u00a0<i>was involved<\/i>\u00a0in the pardons?<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Hunter Biden weighed in on some of those \u201cfamily discussions\u201d of pardons \u201ctowards the end, the very end of the administration,\u201d Zients also admitted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe authority to grant pardons is not provided to the president\u2019s inner circle.
