A person was taken into custody late Tuesday after crashing a vehicle into a Secret Service security checkpoint near the White House, officials said.<\/p>\n

According to a Secret Service spokesperson, the vehicle struck the gate at 17th Street and E Street NW in Washington. The suspect\u2019s identity has not been released, and authorities have not yet indicated a possible motive or whether the incident was intentional.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn Tuesday, October 21 at approximately 10:37 p.m., an individual drove his vehicle into the Secret Service vehicle gate located at 17th and E St, NW, DC,\u201d a Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement to\u00a0Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe individual was immediately arrested by U.S. Secret Service Uniformed Division officers, and the vehicle was assessed by Secret Service and the Metropolitan Police Department and deemed safe,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

Images from news agencies showed a black vehicle that had collided with the security barrier on the western side of the White House complex, NBC News\u00a0added<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear whether President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump were at the White House during the incident.<\/p>\n

That said, Trump was forced to rapidly board Air Force One using a smaller staircase on Sunday due to \u201cincreased security measures\u201d at Palm Beach International Airport, a White House official\u00a0told Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The enhanced precautions were implemented after the Secret Service discovered a suspected hunting stand on Friday near the airport that had a clear line of sight to the presidential aircraft during Trump\u2019s arrivals and departures.<\/p>\n

Fox News was the first to report the discovery of the possible sniper position. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident. FBI Director Kash Patel said an investigation was already underway, adding that the position had yet to be attributed to anyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrior to the President\u2019s return to West Palm Beach, USSS discovered what appeared to be an elevated hunting stand within sight line of the Air Force One landing zone,\u201d\u00a0Patel told Fox News Digital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo individuals were located at the scene. The FBI has since taken the investigatory lead, flying in resources to collect all evidence from the scene, and deploying our cell phone analytics capabilities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

USSS Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi confirmed to Fox that the agency is \u201cworking closely\u201d with the FBI and local law enforcement in Palm Beach County.<\/p>\n

He added that agents discovered the alleged hunting stand during their \u201cadvance security preparations\u201d\u00a0prior to Trump\u2019s arrival in Palm Beach.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was no impact to any movements, and no individuals were present or involved at the location,\u201d Guglielmi told Fox. \u201cWhile we are not able to provide details about the specific items or their intent, this incident underscores the importance of our layered security measures,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The investigation comes just weeks after Ryan Routh was convicted of attempting to assassinate then-former President Trump on a Palm Beach golf course. Prosecutors said Routh had set up a sniper\u2019s nest in bushes along a fence line overlooking the course before being apprehended by Secret Service agents.<\/p>\n

Chilling videos\u00a0surfaced late last month<\/a>\u00a0showing attempted Trump assassin Thomas Crooks dry-firing a handgun in a tactical stance inside his bedroom, according to footage shared online.<\/p>\n

The undated clips, reportedly posted online by Crooks before being scrubbed from the internet, were obtained by conservative commentator Candace Owens and played on her podcast on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
