President Donald Trump joked with a Fox News reporter that he doesn\u2019t \u201cthink there\u2019s anything [that\u2019s] gonna get me in heaven,\u201d even after overseeing the historic Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement that secured the release of Israeli hostages.<\/p>\n

While speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One on Sunday en route to Israel, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy referenced President Trump\u2019s earlier comments that ending the Russia-Ukraine war might improve his chances of making it through the pearly gates.<\/p>\n

\u201cHow does this help? Does this help?\u201d Doocy asked after details of the peace deal, which included the release of all 20 remaining living Israeli hostages, were announced.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, I\u2019m being a little cute. I don\u2019t think there\u2019s anything gonna get me in heaven. I really don\u2019t,\u201d Trump joked as reporters laughed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think I\u2019m not, maybe, heaven-bound,\u201d he added, chuckling to himself. \u201cI may be in heaven right now as we fly on Air Force One. I\u2019m not sure I\u2019m gonna be able to make heaven, but I\u2019ve made life a lot better for a lot of people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamas released the remaining Israeli hostages after more than two years in captivity, with all of them reportedly walking under their own power to waiting Red Cross vehicles.<\/p>\n

The first group of seven hostages returned to Israel at about 9:30 a.m. local time Monday, followed by the release of the remaining 13 several hours later.<\/p>\n

More than 250 hostages were initially taken during Hamas\u2019s October 7, 2023, surprise attacks on Israel.<\/p>\n

While on Air Force One, Trump told the assembled reporters that \u201cthe war is over\u201d between the two factions. He added, per the\u00a0New York Post<\/a>: \u201cI think it\u2019s going to hold.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump also reiterated his previous claims that Russia\u2019s invasion of Ukraine also would not have happened if he had won the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou would have millions of people living in Russia, Ukraine, alone. That would\u2019ve never happened, and it didn\u2019t happen for years, and I knew [Russian President Vladimir] Putin very well and was the apple of his eye, all the things I\u2019ve said. Would\u2019ve never happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Trump also told reporters that the fact that Israel and Muslim countries are celebrating at the same time is \u201cvery special\u201d and has \u201cnever happened before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a very special event. They had 500,000 people yesterday and today in Israel \u2014 and also the Muslim and Arab countries are all cheering. Everybody is cheering at one time. That\u2019s never happened before. Usually, if you have one cheering, the other isn\u2019t, the other is the opposite. This is the first time,\u201d Trump said.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody is amazed and they\u2019re thrilled and it\u2019s an honor to be involved. And we\u2019re going to have an amazing time and it\u2019s going to be something that\u2019s never happened before. So I\u2019ll see you on the plane, and we\u2019re going to have a good time,\u201d Trump added.<\/p>\n

On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Trump the \u201cgreatest friend\u201d Israel has ever had.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo American president has ever done more for Israel,\u201d Netanyahu said. \u201cIt ain\u2019t even close.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked Trump for \u201cstanding up for Israel\u201d at the United Nations, recognizing Israel\u2019s rights in the West Bank \u2014 or the Judea and Samaria \u2014 and withdrawing from the \u201cdisastrous\u201d Iran nuclear deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for supporting Operation Rising Lion and for your bold decision to launch Operation Midnight Hammer,\u201d Netanyahu said, referring to the June strikes on Iran\u2019s nuclear sites. \u201cBoy, you got to hear this \u2014 this is the most fitting name ever given to a military operation, because a little after midnight, you really hammered them.\u201d<\/p>\n
