Yesterday, thousands gathered inside State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to honor the life of\u00a0Charlie Kirk<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 and among them were some of the most powerful figures in America. President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Kirk\u2019s widow,\u00a0Erika<\/a>, all took the stage to pay tribute in a service filled with grief, faith, and raw emotion.<\/p>\n

Trump remembered Kirk as a \u201cgiant of his generation\u201d and declared that America is \u201ca nation in shock and mourning,\u201d while Vance said Kirk had \u201cchanged the course of history.\u201d But it was Erika Kirk\u2019s tearful call for people to \u201cchoose Christ\u201d \u2014 and her stunning decision to forgive her husband\u2019s killer \u2014 that left the entire stadium on its feet in a powerful ovation.<\/p>\n

Widely used during both World Wars<\/h2>\n

The 31-year-old conservative activist was gunned down on September 10 while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.<\/p>\n

Authorities revealed that the gun used to kill Charlie Kirk wasn\u2019t just any hunting rifle \u2014 it may have been a decades-old, untraceable weapon.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors identified it as a Mauser Model 98 .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle, a firearm first developed in Germany and widely used during both World Wars.<\/p>\n

Officials noted the weapon could even predate the 1968 U.S. law passed after President John F. Kennedy\u2019s assassination, which required all firearms to carry serial numbers or other markings. Because of that, tracking the weapon\u2019s history could prove nearly impossible.<\/p>\n

According to a report from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), it\u2019s extremely uncommon for this type of rifle to be used in crimes.<\/p>\n

In the days following Charlie Kirk\u2019s shocking death, another startling detail has emerged: doctors believe his body itself may have shielded others from being killed.<\/p>\n

According to the surgeon who tried to save Kirk\u2019s life, the bullet didn\u2019t behave the way it should have. Instead of ripping straight through, it stopped inside his neck.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just spoke with the surgeon who worked on Charlie in the hospital\u2026 He said the bullet \u2018absolutely should have gone through, which is very very normal for a high powered, high velocity round. I\u2019ve seen wounds from this caliber many times and they always just go through everything. This would have taken a moose or two down, an elk, etc.,\u2019\u201d TPUSA spokesperson Andrew Kolvet\u00a0shared on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kolvet continued: \u201cBut it didn\u2019t go through. Charlie\u2019s body stopped it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The surgeon reportedly told Kolvet that Kirk\u2019s bone strength may have been what made the difference.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was an absolute miracle that someone else didn\u2019t get killed. His bone was so healthy and the density was so so impressive that he\u2019s like the man of steel. It should have just gone through and through. It likely would have killed those standing behind him too,\u201d the doctor said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he ever shot a gun\u201d<\/h2>\n

Kolvet added that the coroner later found the bullet lodged just beneath Kirk\u2019s skin.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven in death, Charlie managed to save the lives of those around him,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

The FBI has since announced that\u00a0Tyler Robinson<\/a>, their prime suspect, is in custody after being turned in by his own father, a Republican voter. Robinson\u2019s grandmother, however, insists authorities \u201chave the wrong man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think he ever shot a gun, to tell you the truth,\u201d Debbie Robinson, 61, told Daily Mail. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t hunt, he\u2019s never liked anything like that. I know he doesn\u2019t own any guns. There\u2019s just no way he could have been that good of a shot.\u201d<\/p>\n
