The Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway said during a Fox News segment earlier this week that former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) gave a gift to her former party when she took a \u201ctoxic\u201d trait with her to the Democratic Party.<\/p>\n

Hemingway and host Maria Bartiromo were discussing President Joe Biden\u2019s decision to award the Medal of Freedom to Cheney, the country\u2019s highest civilian award, which both of them found highly inappropriate given some of Cheney\u2019s alleged criminality while serving as co-chair of the highly partisan Jan. 6 Committee. Hemingway said that ultimately, Cheney took \u201cher very unpopular, politically toxic, neocon interventionism\u201d to the Democrats.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, this award to Liz Cheney really is inappropriate. This is a woman who was hand-selected by Nancy Pelosi to run a committee that was extremely one-sided,\u201d Hemingway began.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiz Cheney, in the course of running this committee to supposedly investigate the January 6th incident at the capitol, obstructed justice, witness-tampered. We have lots of reason to believe she witness-tampered with [former assistant to Chief of Staff Mark Meadows] Cassidy Hutchinson, getting involved in that woman\u2019s actual legal representation. She hid evidence that exonerated Donald Trump,\u201d Hemingway charged.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, one of the big things that Liz Cheney had said was that Donald Trump had not, in fact, sought a presence at the capitol to protect people who were protesting, and she had evidence when she conducted her interviews that the deputy chief of staff said he personally heard Donald Trump say he thought 10,000 National Guard troops would be good, that he heard the chief of staff talk to the D.C. Mayor encouraging her to request those troops,\u201d Hemingway continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut she hid that evidence, completely failed to release that evidence until \u2014 and it only came out after Republicans took control of the house. This is not someone that you should be giving an award to, someone who\u2019s witness tampering, obstructing justice, and the like,\u201d The Federalist editor continued.<\/p>\n

Bartiromo then asked Hemingway if she believed Cheney violated the law, noting that the potential for a pardon issued by Biden was being mentioned in media circles.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pardon is being sought by people who know what she did because she is in legal jeopardy. At the very least, she should be investigated for this,\u201d Hemingway began. \u201cBut I also think it\u2019s so interesting how much Democrats \u2014 the reason why she\u2019s getting the award is she helped Democrats campaign. They thought she was helpful.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou might remember, the Kamala Harris campaign had Liz Cheney out on the road. That was their closing message. If you vote for Kamala Harris, you\u2019re going to have people like Liz Cheney handling our foreign policy. And polling showed that was actually a net negative with people on that campaign,\u201d Hemingway continued.<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cSo Liz Cheney, as awful as her behavior has been in these last few years, she did give Republicans this gift of taking her very unpopular, politically toxic, neocon interventionism and moving it from the Republican Party now firmly into the Democrat Party. So for that, Republicans can be thankful.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bartiromo responded: \u201cUnbelievable. And to also note, the highest civilian award going to Hillary Clinton and George Soros, the Democrats\u2019 biggest donor.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a statement regarding Cheney\u2019s medal, the White House\u00a0said: \u201cThroughout two decades in public service, including as a Congresswoman for Wyoming and Vice Chair of the Committee on the January 6 attack, Liz Cheney has raised her voice\u2014and reached across the aisle\u2014to defend our Nation and the ideals we stand for: Freedom. Dignity. And decency. Her integrity and intrepidness remind us all what is possible if we work together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
