FBI Director Kash Patel promised justice after two suspects allegedly rammed a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agent\u2019s vehicle amid growing unrest across the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cChicago will be saved, and this FBI will continue to crush violent crime there, and all around the country. Heading to the Windy City now,\u201d Patel\u00a0wrote<\/a>\u00a0on X.<\/p>\n DHS called the suspects, Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, \u201cdomestic terrorists\u201d who \u201cambushed\u201d agents in Chicago on Saturday.<\/p>\n According to an announcement from the DHS, Martinez had a semi-automatic handgun and \u201ca history of doxxing federal agents.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cShe took defensive fire from CBP agents and has been discharged from the hospital and is currently in the custody of the FBI. The driver of another vehicle, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, involved in the ramming has been apprehended by law enforcement,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n In a post on Sunday evening, Patel said that officials \u201cjust arrested two individuals who were allegedly driving these vehicles and attacking our federal law enforcement officers.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThey have been charged for assaulting federal officers with a deadly or dangerous weapon. Attack our law enforcement, and this FBI will find you and bring you to justice,\u201d Patel added.<\/p>\n Fox News Digital was\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0by an FBI source that the instances are being treated as AFOs, or assaults on federal agents.<\/p>\n The source also said that Martinez and Santos Ruiz are being charged with violating Title 18, U.S. Code, Sections 111(a) and (b), which make it a federal crime to physically attack, resist, or stop a federal officer from doing their job.<\/p>\n In the DHS release, officials noted that the scene became \u201cincreasingly violent as more domestic terrorists gathered and began throwing smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at DHS law enforcement.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAnother domestic terrorist was arrested for assaulting CBP at the scene,\u201d the statement added. \u201cFollowing JB Prtizker\u2019s refusal to allow local police to help secure the scene, Secretary Noem has deployed special operations teams to restore law and order.\u201d<\/p>\n Two people were arrested for the same kind of crime in Chicagoland on Friday.<\/p>\n According to officials, the suspects, Miguel Escareno De Loera and Widman Osberto Lopez-Funes, were both accused of using their cars as weapons in \u201cdeliberate attempts to ram and injure\u201d ICE officers.<\/p>\n The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Friday the arrest of a criminal illegal immigrant and member of the Latin Kings street gang accused of placing a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino.<\/p>\n According to DHS, a confidential source alerted authorities on October 3, 2025, that a \u201chit\u201d had been ordered against Chief Bovino by a Latin Kings member. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u2019s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) unit identified the suspect as Juan Espinoza Martinez. He was taken into custody on October 6 in Burr Ridge, Illinois.<\/p>\n HSI Chicago received a screenshot of a Snapchat conversation from a user named \u201cJuan\u201d appearing to place a $2,000 bounty for information \u201ccuando lo agarren,\u201d which translates to \u201cwhen they catch him,\u201d as well as a $10,000 reward \u201cif you take him down.\u201d<\/p>\n A third response of \u201cLK\u2026.on him\u201d indicates the involvement of the Latin Kings, a DHS press release\u00a0stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Department of Justice (DOJ) has charged Juan Espinoza Martinez with soliciting the murder of a senior federal law enforcement official.<\/p>\n
