Portland, Oregon, once again finds itself in the national spotlight \u2014 and for all the wrong reasons. The city\u2019s ICE facility has become ground zero for Antifa-led mobs who seem more interested in chaos than justice.<\/p>\n
These agitators, emboldened by years of lenient local leadership, are doing everything they can to sabotage the Trump administration\u2019s efforts to enforce immigration law. What\u2019s unfolding isn\u2019t peaceful protest \u2014 it\u2019s a calculated campaign to obstruct federal authority and undermine the rule of law.<\/p>\n
Things in Portland got so out of control in September that President Trump was forced to call in the Oregon National Guard to restore order and protect federal personnel from escalating harassment and violence. Predictably, that decision has since become tangled in the courts \u2014 a familiar story whenever Trump takes decisive action to enforce the law.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Oregon\u2019s Democratic leaders have been nowhere to be found in offering real solutions. Instead, they\u2019ve been busy hurling baseless accusations. Senator Ron Wyden, for instance, accused Trump of \u201claunching an authoritarian takeover of Portland\u201d \u2014 as if the chaos wasn\u2019t already raging thanks to Antifa\u2019s months-long reign of intimidation.<\/p>\n
Wyden\u2019s hyper left-wing worldview clouds his thinking and judgment. Instead of condemning the violent extremists wreaking havoc in his own backyard, he\u2019s now targeting the journalists brave enough to document it.<\/p>\n
These are reporters \u2014 like The Post Millennial\u2019s Katie Daviscourt and independent journalist C.K. Bouferrache \u2014 who\u2019ve risked their safety to expose Antifa\u2019s operations, training, and street-level tactics that Portland officials would rather ignore.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Wyden lashed out on social media after Daviscourt posted a photo showing herself and Bouferrache atop Portland\u2019s ICE facility, where they were reporting on the ongoing unrest. Rather than acknowledging their courage or the public service of their work, Wyden chose to smear them.<\/p>\n
He sneered, \u201cAssuming actual local news outlets like OPB, The Oregonian, Willamette Week, Oregon Capital Chronicle, the Portland Mercury, KATU, KOIN, KGW, KPTV & others would get the same rooftop reporting access as these right-wing influencers.\u201d<\/p>\n
