The rhetoric coming from local operatives in Illinois isn’t just partisan—it’s toxic, reckless, and increasingly incendiary. For years, the Left has toyed with inflammatory language to score cheap political points, but now that rhetoric has crossed the line into something far more dangerous.

According to multiple reports, including from Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, a Chicago Police Department “Chief of Patrol” instructed officers on October 4th not to respond when ICE and Border Patrol agents called for backup while under attack following a shooting.

Orders like that don’t come from beat cops — they come from the top. That kind of directive almost certainly originated with Chicago’s political leadership — either from the mayor’s office or possibly even the governor.

And here is the audio of a dispatch operator ordering cops not to respond:

The Chief of Patrol who ordered the standdown is Jon Hein, on Saturday:

One of the highest-ranking officers in the Chicago Police Department barred city cops from responding to calls for help from federal agents who reported being surrounded by a large crowd in Brighton Park on Saturday, according to CPD radio transmissions.

CPD Chief of Patrol Jon Hein ordered city officers to leave the area as tensions escalated following the shooting of a woman by Border Patrol agents, supervisors said in recorded radio traffic.

At the end of the dispatch recording, the order is unmistakable. It’s crystal clear — Chicago police were told not to help federal officers under attack. Actively refusing to protect ICE and Border Patrol agents from local violence isn’t just reckless; it’s an open invitation for more chaos. Sooner or later, someone is going to get seriously hurt — or worse — if CPD officers are barred from responding to desperate calls for help. Once the mob realizes that police won’t intervene, the situation will only spiral further out of control.

Politics has once again trumped common sense — pun very much intended. And it’s not the first time we’ve seen this. There’s a long, troubling pattern in blue cities of political leaders tying the hands of their own law enforcement to appease the radical fringe.

Just look back to 2020 — the so-called “summer of love” in Seattle. Antifa and other masked anarchists seized control of several city blocks and declared an “autonomous zone.” Instead of restoring order, Seattle’s leadership instructed police to stand down, only allowing them to enter under “limited circumstances.” In effect, the city surrendered a portion of itself to violent extremists who fancied themselves revolutionaries.

In Seattle’s so-called “autonomous zone,” a shooting broke out — and police and first responders were only allowed in if they first asked for permission. That’s what happens when political hacks tell law enforcement to stand down: chaos takes over. The East Precinct was under siege, and if officers hadn’t boarded it up and fought to keep fires from spreading, it likely would have met the same fate as Minneapolis’s 3rd Precinct.

In Minneapolis, during the early days of the George Floyd riots, officers were given direct orders not to defend their own station. Political leaders told them to let the felonies happen — to simply stand by and watch as rioters tore the city apart. Many of those officers barely made it out alive when the 3rd Precinct was overrun and set ablaze.

When local and state police are told not to prevent crime, criminals will do what criminals do — commit crimes. But when those same officers are ordered not to help their fellow law enforcement officers, that’s something far darker. It’s dystopian — the kind of thing you’d expect to see in a B-movie about corruption, where dirty cops stand by while an honest officer in distress is left to fend for himself.

That’s not fiction anymore. Federal officers — ICE and Border Patrol agents simply doing their jobs — are under siege. They’re insulted, spit on, pelted with beer cans, and their vehicles are smashed with rocks. And what allows that to happen? Political cowardice.

Battery on federal officers doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It happens because local political leaders allow it — because they tell their police to stand down, to look the other way, to let the mob take control. When that happens, criminals get free rein, and law and order become optional.

In most cities, when protesters cross the line from chanting to violence, local police step in to restore order. But not in Chicago. There, it appears the rules have changed — and not for the better. Chicago police officers have reportedly been told to stand down, to ignore calls for help from ICE and Border Patrol agents who are under direct attack.

This isn’t just negligence — it’s abandonment. Federal officers are being left to fend for themselves against violent mobs. The message from city leadership couldn’t be clearer: politics comes first, law enforcement comes last.

And the men and women enforcing America’s immigration laws are paying the price.

We’ve hit a new and dangerous low in political hackery.
