{"id":15677,"date":"2025-10-04T14:25:05","date_gmt":"2025-10-04T14:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cndailynews.store\/?p=15677"},"modified":"2025-10-04T14:25:05","modified_gmt":"2025-10-04T14:25:05","slug":"ex-fbi-official-tipped-off-chinese-firm-doing-business-with-bidens-about-arrests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cndailynews.store\/?p=15677","title":{"rendered":"Ex-FBI Official Tipped Off Chinese Firm Doing Business With Bidens About Arrests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A former senior FBI official leaked details of planned arrests to an employee of a Chinese conglomerate linked to the Biden family, undermining a federal criminal probe, according to a Justice Department watchdog report.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\">\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Charles McGonigal, who led the FBI\u2019s New York counterintelligence division from 2016 to 2018, was sentenced in 2023 to 50 months in prison for conspiring with a Russian oligarch to skirt U.S. sanctions. The DOJ\u2019s Office of the Inspector General revealed Thursday that McGonigal also tipped off the China Energy Fund Committee (CEFC), its executive Patrick Ho, and affiliated firms about the bureau\u2019s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>While leading the FBI\u2019s investigation into CEFC, McGonigal reportedly met with an Albanian working for the company in June 2017, telling them \u201csomething to the effect of \u2018we are looking into them\u2019 or \u2018we are going after them,\u2019\u201d according to the Albanian official, who was identified as \u201cPerson B\u201d in a 2022 interview with the Bureau, the New York Post\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/05\/us-news\/ex-fbi-official-tipped-off-chinese-firm-doing-business-with-biden-family-about-arrests-doj-watchdog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPerson B said that he understood \u2018we\u2019 to be the FBI and \u2018them\u2019 to be CEFC China or CEFC NGO,\u201d the DOJ\u2019s inspector general report said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>At the time of the CEFC probe, it was only known to \u201ca small number of government personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The day after meeting with McGonigal, Person B traveled to Washington, D.C., and relayed the FBI insider\u2019s information to Patrick Ho, warning him that federal agents were preparing arrests tied to CEFC.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<div id=\"as5808\" data-title=\"You Might Also Like\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Person B then passed the tip to CEFC Chairman Ye Jianming, who in turn alerted another FBI target\u2014identified in the watchdog report as \u201cTarget 3\u201d\u2014about the looming enforcement action.<\/p>\n<p>By November 2017, Person B reconnected with McGonigal after being invited by Ho to a CEFC-sponsored event in New York. Though overseas at the time, Person B expressed uncertainty about attending, citing concerns over the ongoing FBI probe, The Post reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStay in Albania,\u201d McGonigal advised Person B, the IG report said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>The FBI official also said something to the effect of \u201cwe are ready for them\u201d or \u201cready for action,\u201d Person B said in 2022 interview.<\/p>\n<p>Person B has insisted he did not share the tip with anyone at CEFC. Ho then traveled to the United States and was arrested on bribery and money laundering charges upon his arrival from China.<\/p>\n<p>House Oversight Committee documents show that Hunter Biden once described Ho, CEFC\u2019s vice-chairman, as both a client and the \u201cf\u2014ing spy chief of China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ho agreed to pay Hunter a $1 million retainer for \u201cCounsel to matters related to US law and advice pertaining to the hiring and legal analysis of any US Law Firm or Lawyer,\u201d the documents show.<\/p>\n<p>In separate communications with CEFC, Hunter Biden wrote that potential agreements could be \u201cinteresting for me and my family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Records show that Hunter and his uncle, James Biden, collected $4.8 million from CEFC China Energy, an affiliate of the conglomerate, between 2017 and 2018, said The Post.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div data-delay=\"4000\" data-block=\"12\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>As the FBI began to dig into leaks surrounding the CEFC probe, agents concluded that Ho \u201cdecided to attend the CEFC event after James Biden or another individual likely told Ho, relying on information provided by a private investigator, that it was safe for Ho to return to the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to the inspector general\u2019s report, the FBI interviewed a retired U.S. Secret Service agent who had been working as a private investigator. The agent said James Biden contacted him in November 2017 to ask whether an arrest warrant had been issued for Ho.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRe new case I need ASAP\u2014I\u2019m in Hong Kong,\u201d said the subject line of an email from James Biden to the retired agent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHave info on an individual I need a background on one specific issue.
