Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Texas Democrat, defended comparing President Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler during an appearance on \u201cThe Breakfast Club\u201d on Friday.<\/p>\n
The comments came just two days after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was assassinated in Utah by a leftist gunman, and after years of Democrats comparing Trump and his supporters to the evil 20th-century German dictator.<\/p>\n
Also, her remarks underscored a growing pattern in which Democrats refuse to lower the temperature of political rhetoric even as violence escalates.<\/p>\n
On the program, Crockett not only stood by the Hitler comparison but also tried to blame Trump himself for political violence.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve got to talk about, like, what it means when you\u2019re runnin\u2019 for president or you\u2019re runnin\u2019 for one of these higher offices, and you go out there and you talk about beating people up,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou go out there and you say things like \u2018I can shoot somebody in the middle of the street in New York and I could still win.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe gotta talk about \u2013 like, that is next level. Me disagreeing with you, me calling you a wannabe Hitler, all those thing are, like, not necessarily saying, \u2018Go out and hurt somebody,\u2019 but when you\u2019re literally telling people at rallies, \u2018Yeah, beat him up,\u2019 and that kind of stuff, like, you are promoting like a culture of violence, so we need to talk about like what it looks like when you don\u2019t promote a culture of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n
