Global Law Enforcement Operation Targets Dark Web Trafficking in Record-Breaking Seizure<\/strong><\/p>\n

In a significant international crackdown, law enforcement agencies from around the world collaborated in\u00a0Operation RapTor<\/em>, an initiative that led to the seizure of massive quantities of illegal drugs, firearms, and assets linked to dark web trafficking networks. The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), in partnership with the FBI, DEA, ICE, and Europol, announced the operation\u2019s results in a press release on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Spanning 10 countries\u2014including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, France, Brazil, South Korea, the Netherlands, Spain, and Switzerland\u2014the operation resulted in the arrests of 270 individuals suspected of operating as vendors, buyers, or administrators on illegal dark web marketplaces.<\/p>\n

Authorities recovered over\u00a0$200 million<\/strong>\u00a0in cash and digital currency, more than\u00a0two metric tons of narcotics<\/strong>, and\u00a0144 kilograms of fentanyl or fentanyl-laced substances<\/strong>. They also seized\u00a0more than 180 firearms<\/strong>\u00a0used in illegal transactions or found during arrests.<\/p>\n

Officials emphasized that the operation represents the most extensive seizure in the history of the DOJ\u2019s Joint Criminal Opioid and Darknet Enforcement (JCODE) program, which focuses on stopping the illegal sale of opioids and other substances online.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis operation underscores the increasing coordination between law enforcement across borders to disrupt online criminal networks,\u201d said one DOJ official. \u201cThe dark web is not beyond the reach of international justice.\u201d<\/p>\n

FBI and DEA officials involved in the operation highlighted the growing threat posed by illicit digital marketplaces, particularly those that traffic synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. These substances have contributed significantly to overdose deaths around the world, especially in the United States.<\/p>\n

The investigation also benefited from intelligence gained in previous operations that led to the shutdown of major dark web markets including Nemesis, Tor2Door, Bohemia, and Kingdom Markets. Authorities say the evidence collected from those takedowns helped identify targets for this year\u2019s effort.<\/p>\n

The European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) at Europol played a key role in intelligence sharing and coordination. According to EC3, the operation demonstrates the continued commitment of international partners to combat digital crime and improve cybersecurity across the globe.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a clear reminder that illegal online activity leaves a trace, and those involved can be found, no matter where they operate from,\u201d an EC3 representative said.<\/p>\n

Officials from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement\u2019s Homeland Security Investigations unit added that cybercriminals are increasingly being tracked through sophisticated tools and cross-border cooperation.<\/p>\n

Operation RapTor reflects a broader strategy among global law enforcement agencies to disrupt digital criminal networks and reduce the supply of dangerous substances contributing to public health crises. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities say more arrests and prosecutions are expected.<\/p>\n
