{"id":14833,"date":"2025-09-26T21:12:03","date_gmt":"2025-09-26T21:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cndailynews.store\/?p=14833"},"modified":"2025-09-26T21:12:03","modified_gmt":"2025-09-26T21:12:03","slug":"lapd-officers-pulled-from-cases-to-provide-security-for-kamala-harris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cndailynews.store\/?p=14833","title":{"rendered":"LAPD Officers \u2018Pulled From Cases\u2019 To Provide Security For Kamala Harris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Kamala Harris is now being guarded by Los Angeles Police Department officers after President Trump withdrew her Secret Service protection, a Wednesday report said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-1\"><\/div>\n<p>As many as 14 members of LAPD\u2019s elite Metro Division have been reassigned from active cases and crime suppression duties to provide security for the former vice president, according to a FOX 11\u00a0report.<\/p>\n<p>FOX 11 cameras captured an unmarked LAPD SUV with at least two plainclothes officers outside Harris\u2019 Brentwood home, where she has lived with her husband, Doug Emhoff, since leaving Washington after the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>Trump signed an order last week ending Kamala Harris\u2019 Secret Service protection as of Sept. 1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>Former vice presidents typically receive six months of coverage after leaving office, meaning Harris\u2019 detail would have expired July 21. But shortly before leaving office, President Joe Biden extended her protection for a full year for some reason.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the federal statute limiting former vice presidents to six months\u2019 worth of Secret Service protection, local Democratic leaders complained that Trump was pulling Harris\u2019 detail out of political \u201crevenge.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<div id=\"as5808\" data-title=\"You Might Also Like\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThis is another act of revenge following a long list of political retaliation in the form of firings, the revoking of security clearances and more,\u201d Democratic LA Mayor Karen Bass told Fox 11 in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis puts the former vice president in danger and I look forward to working with the governor to make sure Vice President Harris is safe in Los Angeles,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Harris was also offered security from the California Highway Patrol after Trump revoked her Secret Service detail, the Los Angeles Times reported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-10\">Advertisement<\/div>\n<p>Such protection would require approval from Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, whose spokesperson declined to confirm the arrangement. However, the rep did say: \u201cThe safety of our public officials should never be subject to erratic, vindictive political impulses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Trump also ended taxpayer-funded security for several high-profile figures, including Hunter and Ashley Biden, Dr. Anthony Fauci, former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, former national security adviser John Bolton, and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Harris is said to be considering her next political move after losing badly to Trump last November. Previous reports have claimed she is either considering running for the Democratic presidential nomination again in 2028 or for California governor next year, though she has already ruled out the latter.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the former option, longtime Democratic strategist James Carville\u00a0said last month\u00a0that there weren\u2019t many in the party pining for her to make another White House run.<\/p>\n<p>Since the 2024 election, Democrats have had a strained relationship with both Biden and Harris, who have remained in the public eye despite many in the party wishing they would quietly step aside.<\/p>\n<p>Harris recently announced she would not run for California governor \u2014 a decision that has fueled speculation she is keeping her options open for another presidential run in 2028. But on his\u00a0<em>Politics War Room<\/em>\u00a0podcast, Carville dismissed any fears that Democrats would rally behind her again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t be terrified,\u201d Carville told one concerned listener. \u201cShe wisely chose not to run for governor of California.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-12\">\n<div data-delay=\"4000\" data-block=\"12\">\n<div>\n<div id=\"e1c09a52-67a1-44a3-a58e-fc2bf67380c6\" class=\"_ap_apex_ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Carville said flatly that Harris will not be the Democratic Party nominee in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnybody that had anything to do with 2024, the party wants to move on from that,\u201d he said. \u201cThis isn\u2019t anybody\u2019s fault.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis goes to Walz, too. I wouldn\u2019t run again,\u201d Carville said. \u201cIf I were your friend, if I were your chief advisor, I\u2019m doing this not from a personal standpoint, but because this is not going to be the environment where Democrats look to anybody connected to the 2024 campaign.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carville\u2019s co-host, Al Hunt, aimed his own parting shot at Biden: \u201cJoe Biden, would you please go take the restful retirement you so richly deserve?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several top Democrats, such as Harris, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Newsom, are expected to run for president in 2028.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kamala Harris is now being guarded by Los Angeles Police Department officers after President Trump withdrew her Secret Service protection, a Wednesday report said.
