President Trump took a jab Thursday at Rep. Ilhan Omar, saying he told Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud to \u201ctake back\u201d the left-wing Democrat after she spewed what he called vile remarks about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.<\/p>\n
\u201cI met the head of Somalia, did you know that?\u201d Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. \u201cAnd I suggested that maybe he\u2019d like to take her back. And he said, \u2018I don\u2019t want her.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The zinger \u2014 delivered after Omar\u2019s string of vicious tirades against slain Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk \u2014 drew laughs and applause from Vice President JD Vance, FBI Director Kash Patel, Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, and other top officials who clearly enjoyed the shot, the New York Post\u00a0reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n One day after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at an outdoor speaking event in Utah on Sept. 10, Omar criticized the widespread tributes to Kirk and denounced what she described as his \u201chateful rhetoric.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere are a lot of people who are talking about him just wanting to have a civil debate,\u201d Omar told the progressive outlet Zeteo. \u201cThese people are full of s\u2014 and it\u2019s important for us to call them out while we feel anger and sadness.\u201d<\/p>\n She later posted a separate video on X criticizing Democrats and celebrities for \u201cnormalizing Kirk,\u201d calling the Trump ally a \u201creprehensible human being\u201d and a \u201cstochastic terrorist.\u201d<\/p>\n Omar reiterated her criticism during an appearance on CNN. \u201cI\u2019m not going to sit here and be judged for not wanting to honor any legacy this man has left behind, that should be in the dustbin of history, and we should hopefully move on and forget the hate that he spewed every day,\u201d she complained.<\/p>\n Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) introduced a measure to censure Omar, accusing her of \u201ccelebrating murder,\u201d but the resolution was narrowly defeated last week after four House Republicans joined Democrats in opposition.<\/p>\n It failed 214\u2013213, preventing the measure from reaching a full House vote. Reps. Mike Flood of Nebraska, Tom McClintock of California, Jeff Hurd of Colorado, and Cory Mills of Florida \u2014\u00a0joined Democrats<\/a>\u00a0in supporting the move.<\/p>\n In a statement to Explain America\u2019s Carmine Sabia, Mace ripped Omar over her remarks. \u201cIf you\u2019re Somalia first, you\u2019re not America first, and a one-way ticket to Somalia is the nicest thing we could do,\u201d\u00a0she said<\/a>.<\/p>\n Earlier, in a response to Omar, Mace posted on the X platform: \u201cIf you celebrate murder, maybe Somalia can take you back.\u201d<\/p>\n
