Barack Obama blasted Donald Trump over comments linking Tylenol to autism, calling it \u201cviolence against the truth\u201d that could endanger pregnant women.<\/p>\n
Obama, speaking with David Olusoga at London\u2019s O2 Arena, said his successor\u2019s remarks were \u201ccontinuously disproved\u201d and harmful to public health.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have the spectacle of my successor in the Oval Office making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproved,\u201d Obama said. \u201cIt undermines public health \u2026 that can do harm to women.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump on Monday had said: \u201cTaking Tylenol is not good \u2026 All pregnant women should talk to their doctors about limiting the use of this medication while pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Obama warned of a \u201ctug of war\u201d between two visions for America and the world, one rooted in democracy and the other led by populists like Trump seeking a return to an older conservative worldview.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy successor has not been particularly shy about it,\u201d Obama said. \u201cThat desire is to go back to a very particular way of thinking about America, where \u2018we, the people,\u2019 is just some people, not all people. And where there are some pretty clear hierarchies in terms of status and who ranks where.\u201d<\/p>\n
He also criticized progressives who he said became \u201ccomplacent\u201d and \u201csmug\u201d in the 1990s and 2000s, claiming values without ever being tested.<\/p>\n
Obama did not mention Trump by name, instead referring to him as \u201cmy successor.\u201d<\/p>\n
