Federal agents seized a cache of documents marked classified during an August search of former National Security Adviser John Bolton\u2019s downtown office, court records show.<\/p>\n
The search followed an earlier FBI raid at Bolton\u2019s home. According to the warrant application, agents were seeking \u201cevidence of a crime\u201d and potential \u201ccontraband, fruits of crime, or other items illegally possessed.\u201d<\/p>\n
An inventory of the property taken at Bolton\u2019s office indicates several electronic devices, as well as a binder labeled \u201cU.S. Dept of State Diplomatic Security,\u201d containing an \u201cintroductory security briefing prepared for the 2000-2001 transition team,\u201d were seized, Red State reported.<\/p>\n
The inventory listed travel memos marked \u201csecret\u201d and \u201cconfidential\u201d concerning a U.S. mission to the United Nations and the government\u2019s strategic communications plan. Agents also recovered classified documents related to weapons of mass destruction.<\/p>\n
