California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom was shredded on social media following an appearance on a late-night show this week after using more politically inflammatory language against the Trump administration in the wake of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk\u2019s assassination.<\/p>\n
Appearing with left-wing host Stephen Colbert, whose ratings-challenged show has been canceled by CBS, Newsom called the situation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents doing their jobs a \u201cCode Red\u201d situation, while suggesting that people push back with violence.<\/p>\n
Newsom\u2019s remarks came on the heels of legislation he signed that was passed by the Democratic supermajorities in the state legislature banning, among other things, ICE agents from wearing masks to protect their identities.<\/p>\n
They also come amid a growing rash of shootings at ICE facilities and attacks on immigration and federal law enforcement officials for months as he and other Democrats continue to describe Trump administration officials and federal officers as \u201cNazis\u201d and members of the \u201cGestapo,\u201d which was Adolph Hitler\u2019s secret police.<\/p>\n
\u201cI fear that we will not have an election in 2028,\u201d Newsom incredulously told Colbert on Tuesday. \u201cI really mean that. At the core of my soul unless we wake up to the \u2018Code Red,\u2019 what\u2019s happening in this country.\u201d<\/p>\n
